The Neighborhood is a holiday story about a community that comes together to help each other out the day after a big snow. It centers themes of caretaking and family—biological and chosen, human and canine.
How to use your Holiday Story Calendar:
Use the enclosed command strips to hang your calendar on the wall, or stick it to your fridge with magnets.
Starting with the door marked “1” on December 1st, open one door a day until you reach the 24th. If your household has several members, consider taking turns opening the doors.
Once you’ve opened each day’s door, look closely at the picture (you may want a magnifying glass!) and discuss what you think might be happening. See if you can notice any details that might hint at what’s to come. If you want, you can pick names for the characters, decide what their favorite foods are, or discuss what you think their hobbies might be.
After the holidays, your calendar can be recycled, or you can shut the doors and save it to use again in a future year.
